Brief
History
The
Government of Pakistan has recently set up an independent
Information Technology and Telecommunication Division. The
Division has launched an IT Policy and an IT Action Plan.
The Policy and Plan document is aimed to provide an enabling
environment for the development and application of Information
Technology in the country. These documents also envisaged
launching new and innovative programs and to take IT across
different sections of the economy. So far significant progress
has been made in launching new programs.
Now
there is a need of consolidation of the existing program and
a need to launch new programs. The main purpose of this project
is to mobilize technical resources by forming working groups
in different areas. It is envisaged that these working groups
of professionals will develop programs in their respective
field of expertise.
Moreover,
it is easier to start a project but effort is required to
successfully implement it. In Pakistan, implementation has
been the nemesis of most projects. In order to tackle the
issue of technical monitoring, the Technology Resource Mobilization
Unit which will not only conceptualize critical IT projects
but also assist in their successful implementation. These
IT projects are targeted to benefit the country in general
and the masses in particular.
The
Technology Resource Mobilization Unit will also assist in
proper and efficient utilization of monetary resources by
undertaking detailed feasibility studies of all aspects of
the projects.
